Sounds Of New Soma - Beyond The Acid Dream

The first album by the German experimental duo Sounds Of New Soma, Beyond The Acid Dream consists of four, slow-moving soundscapes. Throbbing synth drones with glacial guitar noise predominate, and a guttural saxophone pops its head up now again. The unfortunate Achilles' Heel of the record, however, are some echoed spoken vocals that dominate the second track "Im Rausch Des Alkaloids". Not speaking German, I have no idea what this person (synth player Dirk Raupach) is saying, but the tone and timbre is not sufficiently trippy to justify its inclusion in the proceedings. Still, nice sounds though.
