8.5 - France - 2012

Rather retro-sounding instrumental synth pop by this ostensibly French group that recalls some of the proto-electronica put out by various sound libraries in the late 70s and early 80s (think Ariel Kalma or Teddy Lasry). Though the titles indicate a mountaineering theme, the general sound here evokes a more icy, arctic soundscape (though I guess this fits as mountains do tend to have glaciars). Opener "Base Camp" and its follow-up "Khumbu Icefall" are the highlights.
