Chris Forsyth & The Solar Motel Band - Intensity Ghost

7.0 - USA - 2014

For an instrumental, nominally post-rock album, this one's sure got a classic rock feel. Forsyth offers some tasty guitar licks throughout, most notably on the extended opener "The Ballad Of Freer Hollow", and while there's a bit of a Danny-Whitten-era-Crazy-Horse feel to the proceedings, overall the record is much more polished than the Horse's jamminess. Rather, this comes across as a twenty-first century Steve Miller Band (albeit instrumental). Nothing wrong with that, but there are no real moments of transcendence on this album.
